Biography

Victoria McArtor holds both a Master of Fine Arts and a Master of Business Administration and is a former professor at the University of Tulsa. Her poetry, prose, and travel writings have appeared in over 70 literary journals and magazines, and she is listed as an inventor on six U.S. patents related to Augmented Reality (AR) devices and 3D visualization technology.

McArtor’s fiction Phantom Wave was a finalist for Meridian’s Short Prose Prize, praised for its poetic language and haunting, beautiful ending. Her book Reverse Selfie, created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed photographer Matthew Phips, pairs striking black-and-white images with her poetic ode to Tulsa’s lush history and unique landmarks, exploring the tension between self-image and our surroundings.

As co-founder of MUSED, a poetry and collaborative arts nonprofit, McArtor has championed the integration of poetry into everyday life. From workshops for high school students and technology start-ups to mental health programs and city-wide contests, her work has empowered people from all walks of life to pick up a pen—and put down their phones. The Reverse Selfie Project, her six-week workshop for students, helps young people reconnect with their truest selves beyond the curated filters of social media. Its impact was even studied and published in the Journal of Poetry Therapy, highlighting poetry’s value as a tool for self-efficacy and connection.

Alongside her creative work, McArtor has built an impressive professional portfolio. She holds licenses in Life & Health Insurance, Real Estate, and Mortgages, and has connected the power of poetic language to the art of sales and persuasion. She once led a corporate workshop for the Mutual of Omaha 401(k) sales team, teaching them how to infuse imagery, metaphor, and rhythm into their scripts—proving that a well-placed word can open doors and close deals.

Today, McArtor serves as Chief Communications Officer at Ocutrx, a cutting-edge technology company, and its advanced electronics subsidiary, Spectrum AMT. She brings a rare blend of creative and business acumen to these roles, using her MFA, MBA, and over a decade of experience to merge artistic expression with strategic communication. Whether crafting investor pitch decks that have helped raise more than $22 million or telling stories of engineering breakthroughs that change lives, she remains driven by one question: Can the right sentence save lives?
